Privacy policy

Version 0.1, 5 September 2026. This is a first draft written to describe what the site actually does today; it will be revised before the first paid release.

BrainsMade (“we”, “the site”) offers reasoning and personality assessments. This page says what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. Wherever this page and the site's behaviour disagree, that is a bug, and we would like to hear about it through the contact page.

What we collect

When you take a test without an account. Your answers, the time spent on each question, the version of the test and the language it was served in. The attempt is tied to a random token stored in your browser, not to your name, email or device. The result computed from those answers is stored with the attempt.

When you create an account. Your email address, an optional name, and the sign-in details you choose (a password, a one-time link sent to your email, a passkey, or a social sign-in). Signing in lets you claim the anonymous attempts your browser holds; nothing is linked without that step.

When you share a result. A public link that you create on purpose. It shows the result and no name, it is private until you create it, and you can switch it off at any time from the result page.

Usage statistics. We run our own analytics server (Umami). It records page views and a few events (a test viewed, started, submitted, a result viewed, a share created, a sign-up after a test). It sets no cookies and does not store your IP address.

Web server logs. Our web server keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies. The site sets a cookie for your language, one for your colour theme and, when you are signed in, a session cookie. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Payments. Nothing is for sale yet. When paid reports arrive they will be handled by Stripe; card details will never reach our servers, and this page will be updated first.

What we use it for

  • To score your answers and show you the result.
  • To let you save, revisit and share results when you choose to.
  • To calibrate the tests: answers are analysed only in aggregate and only after they are separated from any account, so that weak questions can be found and retired.
  • To measure whether the site works, in aggregate, through the events listed above.
  • To send you email you asked for, such as a sign-in link. We do not send marketing email.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

  • Attempts and results tied to an account are kept while the account exists.
  • Deleting your account, from the settings page, deletes your attempts, answers, results and share links with it.
  • Anonymous attempts are not linked to a person. They are kept so the tests can be calibrated. If you hold the link to an anonymous result and want it deleted, write to us with that link.
  • Access logs are deleted after a short rotation period.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and China's PIPL), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain uses. You can exercise most of these yourself from your account settings; for anything else, use the contact page and we will answer within thirty days.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this page whenever what we collect or how we use it changes, with a new version number and date at the top.
