Slytherin

A serpent, in green and silver

You can see where you want to go, and you are willing to find your own path there.

Slytherin is the house of people who know where they want to get to. In this story it gathers the choices where you found the path, organised what was needed, set a goal you could reach and protected the long game.

Find out where you belong

Eighteen choices, about five minutes, free, no account.

  • Ambition
  • Resourcefulness
  • Self-direction

You may feel at home here if…

  • you ask what the goal is before you ask what the plan is
  • you are good at finding out who can help, and what they need in return
  • you would rather take a slow route that works than a fast one that looks good
  • you keep track of what you are building toward, even on dull days

Day to day

On an ordinary day this is the person who turns a vague wish into three steps and a date, knows which rule can bend, and has already spoken to the one person who can unblock things.

  • Finds the path
  • Organises what is needed
  • Protects the long game

What people get wrong

Slytherin is often cast as the villains' house. Wanting something and working out how to get it is not a flaw; most things that exist were built by someone like that. In the story, the Slytherin option never wins by harming anyone.

With the other houses

A Slytherin brings direction. What helps in return is a Gryffindor's willingness to go first, a Ravenclaw's check on the assumptions, and a Hufflepuff's reminder that the people are part of the goal.

Leave room for the people and the journey, not only the destination.

As the Harry Potter books tell it; these are facts of the story world, not part of the quiz.

A fan-made story game: a house here describes the choices you make in one short story, not who you are for good. Take it again another night and the hat may see something else.
